8. Sea Turtle Eyeglass Frames

Hawksbill sea turtles

Hawksbill sea turtles are internationally listed as critically endangered, and the reptile has been federally listed as an endangered species since 1970. The hawksbill’s beautiful translucent shell is, unfortunately, one of its greatest liabilities.

The shell is used to make jewelry, hair decorations, and other ornaments, and even though international trade of the hawksbill is prohibited, it continues in much of the world. In addition, hawksbills are harvested for their meat.

7. Elephant Ivory Products

Surprisingly, among the biggest drivers of the illegal ivory trade is…Japan

Elephant Ivory Products

Selling ivory legally entails proving that it isn’t new, meaning it was “harvested” before poaching was banned in 1989. Per the African Wildlife Foundation, while Japanese law states ivory tusks must be registered before a sale, the process has remained notoriously lenient.

6. Animal Products in Perfume

Animal parts are still widely used as ingredients in various fragrances.

Civet

One example is the civet, a cat-like animal with a long tail and pointed snout native to Africa and much of Asia.

Its perineal glands produce a crude, buttery-yellow paste that turns darker with age. At full strength, the tincture smells fecal and nauseating, but when diluted it has a floral scent.

Fur farms, which raise foxes and minks in cramped, cruel conditions for the singular reason of fattening them up for maximum fur production.

Estimates vary, but all available figures would place the number of foxes and minks slaughtered on fur farms in the tens of millions annually.

2. Puppy Mills

Oh, look, another f*cking Labradoodle! Adopt Don’t Shop!

Puppy mill

A puppy mill is a commercial dog breeding facility in which the health of dogs is disregarded to maintain a low overhead and maximize profits.

There are an estimated 10,000 puppy mills in the US alone, catering to customers who, for whatever reason, simply must have a pure breed or designer dog.

1. Southeast Asia Dog and Cat Eating – #EndYulin

Every June on the summer solstice, thousands of dogs and cats are tortured and killed at the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in Yulin, China.

The cruelty at dog and cat slaughterhouses in the Yulin area is sickening. Since there is no such thing as dog and cat farms raising animals for meat. Many of the 10,000 dogs and cats slaughtered are stolen pets.

Even more egregious, the Chinese believe the more you torture the animal the more tender the meat will be…THAT’S SICK!

This is one thing that Cancel Culture should be focused on since the next Yulin Festival happens in just a few weeks.
